Abyssinia War Medal 1867-68. Silver, 30.30 grams, Named on the reverse in impressed capitals to "NO. 970 NAIQUE GEER DHAREE. 25TH REGT. BO.N.I." (Bombay Native Infantry). The Abyssinia campaign (1867-68) was triggered by the imprisonment of the British Consul and some missionaries by King Theodore of Abyssinia (now Ethiopia). The British attacked and burned the capital Magdala to the ground and King Theodore committed suicide. Two Victoria Crosses were awarded for the campaign. Extra Fine, Very Rare.
